LOVE @ CHRISTMAS
It's fast approaching my favourite time of the year...CHRISTMAS. And with this comes the astounding Love Magazine Advent Calendar. Forget about your chocolates and feast your eyes on the saucy creations being ejected from the LOVE office every day throughout December. This year expect to see the twerking Queen Miley Cyrus at the helm of the naughtiness, stealing the crown from last year's monarch; the unforgettable scantily clad blade runner ... Miss Cara Delevingne. Catch teasers of this year's fun on the Love Magazine's insta (@thelovemagazine).

MEADHAM KIRCHHOFF FOR TOPSHOP.
Now, if there's one collaboration I've ever been excited for it's this one, Meadham Kirchhoff meets Topshop. In recent years Topshop has been caught in the main stream trap, straying from its roots in the extra-ordinary, swapping all goth everything for garish "geek" slogans. If there was anyone that could subvert this and reinstate Topshop's edge then Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff are definitely the men for the job. Meadham Kirchhoff are no strangers to the odd, the beautiful and the dysfunctional, three key themes that have the ability to replenish Topshop's cool status.
The "Cherry" collection promises to turn glam rock on its head as only the Kings of Kitsch could whilst sticking to their guns creating clothes for every type of independent woman. Clothes for divas...designed by divas.

IT
Upon hearing mixed reviews of my favourite IT girl's debut publication I decided it was time to decide for myself whether it was in fact over-indulgence at its finest or whether it was indeed a thing of post-adolescent beauty. Alexa Chung's 'It' was a pleasant surprise, a fluent read with a heart of pure goofy, awkward gold. If this book was personified it would be Bambi, wobbly and gangly with a fascinating elegance. Alexa gives insights into her world, from her own personal style icons (Spice Girls et al) to her stinging heart ache courtesy of the glassy eyed crooner, Mr Alex Turner, all conveyed with such a cool tone; nothing that life throws out can ruin this androgynous beauty. Miss Chung reminds us that girl power is crucial in times of sorrow, even if girl power does mean crawling home at ridiculous hours in the morning, broken by excessive hours dancing in 90's bars.

JW ANDERSON AT LFW
JW ANDERSON: LFW'S DARLING.
For those of you who, like me, have been endlessly trawling social media websites will have come across a wave of virtual applause for JW Anderson's SS14 offering. For me this is the first time Anderson has grabbed my attention, the first time I've sat up and taken notice.
The collection is characterised by collaborations of leather with pleather in the most aesthetically pleasing way, plummeting down over the models' fine form like a crystallised waterfall, capturing every particle of light. Garments exploring ground breaking silhouettes incorporating every fantastical technique imaginable, pleats grazing unadulterated flesh, knotted bows wrapped around the most feminine curves. Anderson's collection emphasises and explores the delicacy of new fabrics with a such a fascinating outcome that has bewitched LFW in its masses. This latest capsule left no stone unturned, Anderson presents his own interpretation of virtually every key trend seen down the catwalk this week in his own sophisticated language. Dark nude leathers transformed into structural triumphs juxtaposed by clean cut yellows and primary colours on backgrounds of bright white making up distorted floral prints. These matched with collarbone clinging camisoles in the same clinical white leaving the breast and backwards unrestricted and bare.

Christopher Kane Resort Collection SS14
As one of the leading names in London's fashion scene Christopher Kane is forever upping his game, forever topping his last collection and with his latest presentation, Resort SS14 he definitely did not disappoint. The 36 piece capsule sprawls right through from the sexy, androgynous Geography teacher littered with black leather and sheer panels to the figure hugging sinister web of lace, resembling a virginal bridal veil at the other end of the scientifically inspired spectrum. Certainly living up to his reputation in producing the edgiest and most beautifully refined garments. Kane has utilised every key trend of the current and coming seasons and added a deliciously fresh and underplayed elaboration, peplums revitalised and co-ords computerised with graphical patterns. If there's one thing Kane does well it's breathing life back into over-used trends but making them five hundred and seventy three times better than before, adding a twist to the tale, Kane even said himself when asked whether British fashion history informed his work: "I think as a designer you absorb all sorts of pieces of history. I like to pick at things, but mostly I like to look forward." * And I think this perfectly sums up the integrity of his Resort SS14 collection, Kane has involved all sorts of futuristic elements into this capsule yet referenced back to nature which gives a deep impression of how natural entities have been corrupted by technology and industry, nature too has been grabbed and been used to enhance the beauty of the human form, that of the female particularly celebrated throughout the collection from digitally generated mannequins decorating casual, cropped jersey sweaters to delicate webs of sensual,
red lace tracing and hanging from a woman's every outline. Everything in this collection is reminiscent of old school computing, huge blocks of primary colours and imagery of that ever so familiar fuzzy greeting screen on a first generation PC that ever computer geek has been pining to see since the day it was discontinued. Kane's resort collection has everything to make every type of human being weak at the knees.

VERSACE VS CHANEL
Here is an outfit I created on Saturday night to attend a reunion BBQ, I took inspiration from two of my all time favourite designers; Versace and Chanel mixing them both to create a deliciously "sport luxe" outfit - all from the high street may I add. I accessorised my outfit with tiny lace frilled socks and a string of faux pearls to pay homage to the ultimate Goddess, Coco Chanel.
Bouclé Jacket - H&M
Peter Pan Collar Shirt - Topshop
Baroque Multicoloured Hotpants - Topshop
Dual Fusion Running Trainers - Nike
Frilled Lace Socks- Topshop
String of Pearls - H&M
I added a "fannypack" (oh so 90s) to the outfit to carry all my acoutrements, and as a variation of this outfit I paired up my Vivienne Westwood Anglomania X Lee Denim jacket with the baroque shorts to create a trip inducing concoction. Enjoy!

JONATHAN SAUNDERS.
This is a piece I wrote in September 2012, reviewing Jonathan Saunders' SS13 collection presentation at LFW.
Jonathan Saunders, one of the biggest names in the industry presents to the world his Spring/Summer 2013 collection, creating vast waves throughout. With a launch party at London's Bistrotheque restaurant, packed out with its famously "hipster clientele", Saunders' new collection is inevitably LFW's biggest hit.
The collection itself includes ready to wear garments ranging from dresses to coordinate suits. For me, the crowning jewel of this psychedelic collection is the showstopping, bold metallic co-ords, lined with horizontal and vertical stripes of brash (but rather wonderful) iridescent silver. The co ord made up of a modestly cropped tshirt top with a fantastically flattering circle hem skirt. The outlandish iridescents of the piece are perfectly balanced by the crisp white stripes that cut through the ripples of colour, providing a sophisticated twist to the playful and cosmic galactica theme.

The outlandish iridescents of the piece are perfectly balanced by the crisp white stripes that cut through the ripples of colour, providing a sophisticated twist to the playful and cosmic galactica theme.
The next piece, a billowing maxi. Elegant yet bold, it encorporates the trend that has thundered through all forms, clothes, nails and of course hair. Every hipster's must have -dip dye. Used in its more sophisticated faded fish scale form Jonathan Saunders has created a delight for all. Coloured in off white and rose red hues it creates the perfect balance of day wear and evening wear, dressed on the catwalk casually with white cutout platform sandals and elegantly oversized circular sunglasses, complimented with dark plum rouge lips.
A key theme that runs through the arteries of this collection is the metallic fish scale. Seen in the form of dresses, skirts and co-ords. An edgy pattern to feed the growing obsession with all things mermaid (see Azealia Banks and the flavour of the year, Cara Delevingne for inspiration). Every print featured within this line is flawlessly presented, perhaps a given, after all Saunders received an MA in printed textiles at the ever iconic Central Saint Martins, with his graduating collection landing him commissions at Alexander McQueen and consultancy posts at Chloe. Achieving a high level of prestige before many of his contemporaries. Such designs winning Saunders not only a huge celebrity following (the first lady Michelle Obama and Madonna are self confessed Saunders addicts) but also many coveted fashion awards including the "LancĂ´me colour award" and "British Designer of the Year Award" at Elle Style Awards. Pretty impressive considering Saunders knew absolutely nothing about textile printing a mere 14 years ago in 1999, before studying the field at Glasgow School of Arts in his native land of Scotland.
The collection does not fail to serve every type of figure, flattering for all shapes and all styles of woman. From the girls who opt for a more glamorous look to the women who enjoy a low key way of dressing there is something within Saunders' most glorious and well received collection for every girl.
His catwalk show provides inspiration on how to create the perfect look which each piece, literally from head to toe. Models wear scraped back hair in high cuffed ponytails with natural coloured hair, darkest hues of noir included. Bare faces and dark lip shades perfectly toned down to give the collection the true attention it deserves. A blinding contrast from his previous collections of very conservative, polite printed dresses, this collection transforms Saunders into the crafter of modernity and luxury. Is this a preview of things to come from the fabulous Mr Saunders? It seems that the whole of the fashion industry has everything crossed hopefully after all the thrills this collection created at its first airing in the Tate Modern's "Turbine Hall" during LFW.
Reviewing this collection gives one a true insight on how Jonathan Saunders has grown as a designer, here he is showcasing his raw talents, giving us a glimpse of his true colours leaving every blogger, designer, journalist and member of the "fash pack" hankering for more of this iridescent glory. Making us embrace our sci-fi side and discard any politely printed textile we own, Saunders is at the helm of this cosmic revolution. And quite frankly his next collection cannot arrive fast enough.
I decided to share this upon hearing the news that Jonathan Saunders is set to launch an outlet store from tomorrow; the 31st of July to Sunday 4th of August, and here's to hoping I can grab some of these beauties there!

Central Saint Martins : A Dream.
As I'm rapidly approaching the exciting but absolutely daunting next chapter of my life my waking hours are being consumed by researching, visiting and comparing various universities. However, there has been one constant within this whole web of entry requirements and course overviews has been Central Saint Martins. From the very first time I contemplated doing anything vaguely fashion related at university I have been fascinated with CSM and its dream like reputation, so as I am writing this I am currently in the process of trying to make this dream come true and putting together materials for an application. It goes without saying that this blog will (hopefully) be a really pivotal contribution to my application, indicating my experience in working with many different online platforms, vital to a career in fashion communications.
I was lucky enough to visit CSM on the night of its farewell to the legendary Charing Cross campus and have since fallen in love with the institution and everything it stands for, something on that night was so enchanting and now I cannot imagine myself anywhere else. If anybody reading this has any advice or is in the same situation as myself right now then please don't hesitate to contact me as I'd love to share this experience.

YNOT
Last year I got roped into going to a festival I hadn't heard of before called YNOT. I will admit that at first, before the line-up had been released I wasn't too keen on the idea of going to such a small festival in the middle of nowhere in Derbyshire about 20 minutes away from where I live as I am accustomed to going to Leeds most years and I was convinced that nothing could compare to the ultimate festival. I couldn't have been more wrong, YNOT has so much to offer from dodgems to shisha tents and Italian stonebaked pizza (I lived off that for the weekend), small but mighty. The atmosphere of the festival was so comfortable, the staff (mostly volunteers) so friendly and helpful plus a cracking line up including headliners The Pigeon Detectives, The Wombats and The View and meeting a barefoot Johnny Depp look -a-like outside a giant turtle was definitely the highlight of my weekend. Every year YNOT also casts a poll asking the public what the year’s fancy dress theme should be… This year the rumoured is Alan Partridge, a petition by Wet Nuns on Twitter that set the ball rolling, hashtag alphapapaynot! So if you were umm-ing and ah-ing about whether to get a ticket this year I will just inform you of a new feature coming to the festival this year (probably the best thing ever)... A ROLLER DISCO. If that isn't gonna swing it for you then I don't know what will as I've already packed a whole array of Marc Bolan-esque sequined catsuits to don with my roller blades.

LC:M
Although it may seem that I am pretty slow on the uptake for this topic the only apology I can offer is the fact that my dearest and long term laptop Frank a few weeks ago decided to pack his bags and go to laptop heaven, and so here I introduce my new friend Howard, this marks the first of my blog posts from Howard!
So anyway as I have been solely on my iPad I have been keeping tabs on the most recent fashion shows but it has been proving a bit of a nightmare to access blogger from safari, 'ave a word Apple!
My favourite of all the LC:M shows was definitely Jonathan Saunders' SS14 collection, I absolutely adored every piece within the line, I can honestly say there is not one thing I didn't fall in love with at first sight. This obviously didn't come as a surprise to me as I always find myself lusting after everything Saunders' creates (not to mention the selection of fascinating models on which he presents his collection.) For me the crowning jewel of this collection was the brash black and yellow polka dot shirts juxtaposed with just as bright and migraine inducing diagonally striped ties, every season I am never ceased to be amazed by Saunders' ability to create prints and patterns that usually would never be seen together and make them work so fantastically together. Another luscious string in Saunders' inordinately fabricated bow was the canary silk bomber jacket, something so bright and with such a luxurious lustre I believe it could definitely sweep the current neon trend of SS13 under the mat.
The collection can be viewed in full at:

Disco obsession
Today while conducting my daily Instagram trawl I came across something on the luscious Poppy Delevingne's profile that has the potential to make my life complete...Anya Hindmarch's Marano Dancer bag from AW12....basically a disco ball that doubles up as a bag. Need I say more? My two favourite items combined into one super sparkly accessory, although I'm presuming the price tag may be a little bit out of my budget but a girl can dream can't she?! I am definitely going to make sure my parents aware of this super investment piece before my 18th birthday (no chance)

ELLE INTERN COMPETITION
I came across this awesome opportunity when doing my daily trawl of my favourite fashion bibles' websites. The chance to gain an internship at Elle: the stuff of my dreams! To apply I had to create a piece of writing 250 words maximum about who I would most like to interview in the fashion industry. I chose someone who has very much inspired me and someone who has undoubtedly had a great input on the trends we see evolving season after season, Louise Wilson OBE, course director of MA Fashion Design at the marvelous institution that is CSM. Here is what I created:
CSM: The place of dreams for every aspiring designer, for
every ardent journalist and all the impassioned fashion print enthusiasts, but
what is it that makes this institution so legendary and so prestigious? Perhaps
it is the stunning back catalogue of graduates who are now predominant names in
the business? Maybe. Or is it the fashion mavericks at the helm of each course?
Definitely. The person I would most like to interview in this broad, vast
industry is Louise Wilson, course director of MA Fashion Design at Central
Saint Martins. Wilson’s input and teaching on this course has been imperative
in producing so many celebrated designers around the world, Alexander McQueen,
Christopher Kane and Giles Deacon to name a few. Defined by her no nonsense
attitude and fully black wardrobe Louise Wilson has had a profuse affect on
every fashion enthusiast, whether directly or otherwise but indefinitely,
Wilson has undoubtedly shaped the state of fashion as we see it now and how we
see it evolving with every trend and every season. I personally regard Louise
Wilson as a legend of the game, and obviously many agree and have been deeply
impassioned by what Wilson does at CSM , she has honored with an OBE and even
received a shout-out from Kanye West to celebrate her birthday at his recent
London gig.I believe that behind the success of Central Saint Martins stands
Wilson forever cracking her unforgiving whip to create one of the most
fascinating fashion institutions in the world.
Any feedback or advice would be wonderful, and please keep everything crossed for me!

The Great Gatsby
It's less than a week until The Great Gatsby is set to hit the cinemas in the UK and I really can't contain my excitement. I've been so tempted to trawl through the internet to find all the costumes but I'm trying so hard to stop myself from ruining the most monumental part of the film, which is saying a lot judging by the gorgeously OTT trailers. What could be more luscious than Leonardo DiCaprio dressed in the finest 20's gear? I don't think anything could be more luscious.

Freak of Nature Clothing, now where do I even begin to describe the lush clothing, my eyes could barely believe themselves when I first came across the grunge//glam combo clothing, I've been hunting for a combination as perfect as this one for ages and here I have found it. I can finally let out my inner 90's Gwen Stefani with pride in this awesome apparel, perfect for pairing with a beautiful pair of Spice Girls platforms and stomping around town in. So thank you Freak of Nature Clothing for creating my absolute dream (and a beautifully reasonable price) x x x x
