As one of the leading names in London's fashion scene Christopher Kane is forever upping his game, forever topping his last collection and with his latest presentation, Resort SS14 he definitely did not disappoint. The 36 piece capsule sprawls right through from the sexy, androgynous Geography teacher littered with black leather and sheer panels to the figure hugging sinister web of lace, resembling a virginal bridal veil at the other end of the scientifically inspired spectrum. Certainly living up to his reputation in producing the edgiest and most beautifully refined garments. Kane has utilised every key trend of the current and coming seasons and added a deliciously fresh and underplayed elaboration, peplums revitalised and co-ords computerised with graphical patterns. If there's one thing Kane does well it's breathing life back into over-used trends but making them five hundred and seventy three times better than before, adding a twist to the tale, Kane even said himself when asked whether British fashion history informed his work: "I think as a designer you absorb all sorts of pieces of history. I like to pick at things, but mostly I like to look forward." * And I think this perfectly sums up the integrity of his Resort SS14 collection, Kane has involved all sorts of futuristic elements into this capsule yet referenced back to nature which gives a deep impression of how natural entities have been corrupted by technology and industry, nature too has been grabbed and been used to enhance the beauty of the human form, that of the female particularly celebrated throughout the collection from digitally generated mannequins decorating casual, cropped jersey sweaters to delicate webs of sensual,
red lace tracing and hanging from a woman's every outline. Everything in this collection is reminiscent of old school computing, huge blocks of primary colours and imagery of that ever so familiar fuzzy greeting screen on a first generation PC that ever computer geek has been pining to see since the day it was discontinued. Kane's resort collection has everything to make every type of human being weak at the knees.
