If I could travel in time I would be a blitz kid. Or i'd visit the Balearic isles in the 90's. And I'd dance with boys with long hair who are now probably men with wives and kids and responsibilities. And greying hair and office jobs. I'd take his hand and make him promise that he'd never trade in his spangled Aladdin pants for a grey wool suit most likely picked by his wife, the wife who just doesn't compare to the love of that summer. I'd remind him that maybe it's going to be a trap and perhaps being a party boy for life might be a good thing, routine might not be all its cracked up to be? I'd love to be the camera that would capture his image and that lifestyle to remind him years later that those were the best years of his life, inspiring nostalgia and a longing for what was before.

A rather rapid post merely to declare my undying love for my new Vagabond platform sandals. I physically cannot contain my excitement when thinking of wearing them to see mega bodacious babes Drenge on Saturday, where they will be able to fulfill their optimum stomping capacity. (Insert ridiculous amount of sparkly heart and skull emojis here)

THE SUPER POWERS OF KATIE GRAND

So here is my initial writing submission for Central Saint Martins, I feel so lucky to have got this far at all, I'm now hoping and praying that the admissions team enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed imagining it, writing it and tweaking it. Katie Grand is my fashion//journalistic//style idol so it only felt natural to base my piece on her all encompassing work. -- Keep your fingers crossed for me x 

THE SUPER POWERS OF KATIE GRAND.

When cross sectioning one of fashion's greatest superpowers - Katie Grand, it is clear that she is a force to be reckoned with. A giant of contemporary fashion. An unstoppable element within the fashion industry, a career spanning from triumphant editorials for the likes of LOVE, Interview and POP to curating dramatic window displays for Louis Vuitton under Marc Jacob's reign; there isn't much left to be captivated by Katie Grand's ebullient golden grip.

As sagacious editor-in-chief at unparalleled LOVE magazine, Grand is inspiring a new fashion demographic, transforming and refreshing fashion's dialogue with the masses as she goes, with a little help from her gang of gorgeous "pets"; Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell, Georgia May Jagger et al. Affirmed as an avid supporter of the ever controversial Miley Cyrus, placing her at the helm of the playful, pastel splattered eleventh issue. The morphed pop star is photographed by legend and frequent LOVE collaborator David Sims, wearing nothing more than celestial nipple covers - styled by none other than Ms Grand herself. The shoot speaks volumes for Grand's talents, the way she demonstrates Cyrus' free spirited, rebellious nature through the medium of an off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood t-shirt, the just out of bed red crop and the raw features. So basic yet it exudes such an attitude which without a doubt defines all that Miley Cyrus stands for; rebellion and youthfulness. Which Grand herself possesses; a certain exuberance and enthusiasm characterised by her distinguished and immaculate fresh face and the impish gap tooth. With this in mind it is so easy to identify resemblances between the two increasingly successful, powerful women, both on the trail to an iconic status within contemporary fashion.

A real talent Grand holds is the ability to give any magazine a status. A status that ultimately over-rides any previous colossus of contemporary fashion. There is without a doubt a dedication to creating publications renowned for their alternative and undeniably cool contents, straying from the commercial and the mainstream, most importantly captivating and inspiring a new generation. LOVE magazine is the perfect example of this, its work is eclectic and fun loving, most recently posting a video archetypal of LOVE, ("Groovy Edie" by Ruth Hogben) of alluring Edie Campbell donning various brightly coloured wigs, dancing to disco anthems from through the ages - all with a suitably lavish outfit to match (again styled by Grand). Forever championing the more eccentric characters (see LOVE's website for evidence); for instance showcasing an exclusive of quirky blogger Bip Ling's debut single "Bipping" - featuring none other than a talking pug in a bucket hat. Or the fact that Grand daringly chose a non-human celebrity to mark the milestone of the publication's tenth issue, Minnie Mouse starring alongside a coven of glorious models in custom mouse ears designed by the likes of Gucci and Jake and Dinos Chapman for Vuitton, among others.

LOVE single-handedly entices a cult following, with its annual advent. Grand certainly puts a radical spin on the traditional Christian Christmas countdown, replacing religious icons with scantily clad nativity scenes, featuring only the most angelic of models, with saucy creations being transmitted from the LOVE office every day throughout December. Wrapping up this year with a Christmas speech from the pinnacle of fashion monarchy (and one of Grand's most prized collaborators), Miss Cara, a career which Grand has assisted, encouraged and supported. As she has done for so many other predominant names in fashion, working frequently with her habitual gang of fashion virtuosos, naming Mert and Marcus, Solve Sundsbo and Tim Walker as part of this illustrious body of special and inspirational work.

It is always increasingly difficult to tell where Katie Grand's unpredictable and unyielding talents will lead her next, in a career of such variety and success, as one of the founders of Dazed and Confused - arguably one of the most iconic publications in British and fashion history (and named one of the most powerful stylists in the world because of it). It seems there is nothing to dispute the capacity of the ubiquitous Ms Grand. All that is certain is that whatever it is that fashion's brightest super power unleashes on the world next it will be lively, compelling and totally unique.
